SEND

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

At Sidmouth Primary we believe all children have individual needs, strengths and talents. We recognise that any child may require additional support at some point within their learning journey. We feel it is vital to identify children needing extra support as soon as possible. This will always be done in consultation with parents, the children and, where necessary, outside agencies.

Click here to see our SEND Information Report for 2023-2024.

Our SEND Co-ordinator is Miss Hyde. She can be contacted via the telephone on 01482 441152 or by emailing hyder@thrivetrust.uk

Contact

Contact is a charity that runs a free advice and information helpline for parents and carers with disabled children aged from birth to 25, living in any part of the UK. Contact has produced a page on their website to offer guidance to parents and carers on healthy relationships and the impact caring for a child with SEND can have on family harmony.

They have also produced this useful guide: Relationships & Caring for a Disabled Child

Hull Parent Carer Forum - Padlet

Hull Parent Carer Forum (PCF) have created a resource and information Padlet for parents, carers and practitioners. The Padlet is an interactive "notice board" where information and links can be added for people to view.

The aim of the Padlet is to have access to useful links, information and strategies to help understand and support disabled and neurodivergent children, young people and their families. You will find section headings at the top, scroll left and right to see all sections. Once you have found the section you wish to look at, scroll down to see each post in the section. Due to there being such an overlap between some neurodivergence's and disabilities and the issues involved, there are useful posts in multiple sections.

The Padlet is a "working document" and PCF aim to add new relevant sections and information. PCF acknowledge that whilst they have added lots of resources and information already, there is more fantastic information out there and they welcome other suggestions to sections and posts. Anyone can add a post to the Padlet by clicking the + in the relevant section, all posts will be reviewed by PCF to ensure it is suitable and relevant to be added. Please note that some posts may not be authorised if they are either not relevant, not neuroaffirming or are a duplicate of information already added.

You can access the Padlet by clicking this link: Resources (padlet.com)
